We believe that biomass energy can play a vital role in reducing India’s dependence on fossil fuels. It will be instrumental in safeguarding the environment, creating new job opportunities, sustainable development and health improvements in rural areas, thus paving the way in modernizing the agricultural economy. Biomass in the form of agricultural residue, waste wood and bagasse, can be used in Gasifiers to produce Producer Gas--which comprises of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methane & nitrogen and can be useful for Electrical and Thermal applications. This gas has a lower calorific value (1000-1200 kcal/nm3) as compared to natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas, but can be burnt with high efficiency and good degree of control without emitting smoke. In energy terms, the conversion efficiency of the gasification process is in the range of 80-90%. Bio gas Energy is generated when bacteria degrade biological material in the absence of oxygen in a process known as anaerobic digestion. Since biogas is a mixture of methane-CH4 (also known as marsh gas or Bio gas) and carbon dioxide (CO2), it is a renewable fuel produced from biochemical decomposition of organic wastes. A biogas plant supplies energy and value added organic fertilizer. It improves hygiene and protects the environment. And lightens the burden on import of fossil fuel.
